What this site is

PennyPilot is a small independent publication about personal finance tools: budgeting apps, savings accounts, investing platforms, tax software, and insurance. Every guide compares the real options side by side, with the fees, catches, and fine print spelled out in plain language.

How our guides get made

Each article starts with primary sources: fee schedules, terms pages, and pricing docs, read in full. Then we read what long-term users actually report in forums, app stores, and detailed write-ups, looking for patterns rather than single opinions. We run the pricing math on realistic scenarios so you see what each option costs you, not just what it advertises.

Before anything goes live, a subject-matter editor reviews every guide for accuracy, fairness, and missing alternatives. We update the major comparisons regularly and mark each article with its date. If you spot something outdated, tell us and corrections go to the top of the queue.

What we never do

  • Paid rankings. Nobody can buy a better position, and advertisers never see articles before publication.
  • Pretend testing. If we have not personally used something long-term, we say the assessment is research-based.
  • Promise returns. No investment or savings product comes with guarantees, and we will not imply otherwise.

How we make money

Right now, the site is new and earns nothing. The plan is straightforward: display ads and, where relevant, affiliate links to products we genuinely recommend. If you sign up through an affiliate link, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Money never changes our rankings.

PennyPilot is not a financial advisor. Our guides are research and education, not personalized advice. For big decisions, talk to a licensed professional.
